Thanks for the nod Globey. I really appreciate how Glee took a story about a white, cis, thin, able, inoffensive gay stereotype being the victim of homophobic bullying, added in the old “the bully is really gay!” cliche, didn’t actually address it in any meaningful way, were incredibly offensive towards trans* people, incredibly offensive towards fat people and incredibly offensive towards disabled people and yet, are lauded as the moral saviours of our generation. Yeah. Thanks. That deserves awards.
I’m so sick of people being so serious ALL THE TIME. Do these people ever have fun?
Glee also portrays fat and disabled people, as well as issues like teen pregnancy, and race. Yet I guess that wasn’t convenient for this post because this award was presented to only one of the cast?
Um, Glee’s portrayal of fat and disability is hugely problematic not to mention that the teen pregnancy was the result of a (questionable) date rape?! ETA and really important - Glee totally others trans people. Disgustingly so.
Don’t let those rose coloured glasses stop you from enjoying Glee, oh no.
