I do not expect the first thing I see when I get up (yes at 8pm, I work night shifts) to be patronising, pseudo-intellectual, quasi-rape apology bullshit from people I follow.
If Julian Assange were any other man, and two women came forward saying “this guy raped us” we would not be questioning them, we would be going “wow, what an absolute asshole”. I don’t care if it hurts your delicate man fee-fees, AS FEMINISTS WE BELIEVE PEOPLE WHO CLAIM TO BE RAPED. You know why? Because there’s no proof that false rape claims are any higher than false claims for any other claim, but there’s a lot of proof that rape victims are constantly fucked over by the judicial system and by society, and FUCK YOU, I don’t want to associate my social justice and my striving for equality with yours, at least not until you learn how to check your MANY, MANY fucking privileges and get the fuck over yourself.

YES THIS. I am fortunate that none of the people I follow have been saying this shit, or have quickly recanted their words and completely understood their mistake. I have, however, seen reblogs of disappointing shit. It just makes me frown, for serious.
