calories over chemicals for me

How about both? As horrifying as it is, I’ve been drinking Diet Coke since I was a kid, and regular coke tastes like chugging corn syrup to me. I’ll take a nice cold DC any day of the week, only bring it out with a giant veggie burger and huge serving of yam fries with extra aioli plz.

I don’t like Diet Coke but I love Coke Zero. I don’t understand it! Also I will also take a veggie burger (or a portobello mushroom burger, YUM) with yam fries. I’ve never had yam fries!

Coke Zero has a different sweetener in it that more accurately mimics the more complex flavour of sugar.

From Wikipedia:

[Coke Zero] is primarily marketed towards young adult males and has even been nicknamed “Bloke Coke”… In the U.S., advertising has been tailored to its targeted market by describing the drink as “calorie-free” rather than “diet”, since young adult males are said to associate diet drinks with women.

Yeah, also that. I didn’t even touch on it because it makes me rant and I can’t be bothered right now.

I drink it when I feel like a softdrink because of my T1D, it really sucks that I have to wade the gross diet waters for sugar free drinks and foods :(

I don’t understand any of this. If diet drinks are your preference, then they’re your preference. We’ve had Diet Coke in the fridge ever since I was a little kid because that’s what my parents prefer to drink and that’s how I was raised. It’s not a Fat Politics Thing, it’s not a Body Issue Thing. I mean, I’m sure in a lot of cases it is, but not all cases, and this is just generalizing. I’m overweight, my dad’s overweight, and my mom was overweight up until a bout with diphtheria about ten years ago, and we’ve always had Diet fucking Coke in the house because that’s what we like around here.

Jesus Christ, loosen the fuck up. Sometimes it’s just about personal preference.

And my personal preference is not to have diet culture pushed down my throat when I don’t get a choice in whether or not my body can turn sugar into energy.

If you’re not into critiquing diet culture IDK why you’re following this conversation.
