I so love Fran’s outfit in those scenes. The shoes, the socks, the leggings, the baggy tshirt dress. It’s just perfection!
When I first saw this movie I was a really introverted, acned teenager and I identified with Fran so much it actually hurt me to watch the early scenes. I used to wear shapeless tshirt dresses and leggings, and people who sold skin care and make up via party plan used to give me advice just like Shirley did.
I don’t think I have her guts though. Fran is pretty fearless, I would never have allowed myself to think I could ask an Open Amateur (or like, anyone) to dance.
When I watch Muriel’s Wedding I’m going to have similar feelings. My sisters used to say I was exactly like Muriel’s older, fatter sister. (YOU’RE TERRIBLE MURIEL) ARGH TEENAGE FEELINGS.

The way I’m built a lot of pants I like only fit if they have elastic band. Especially skinny jeans and/or ponte knit pants.
Elastic band AND a high rise and I’m in love.
I used to hate elastic band pants but now I love them. I have a super high waist and belly and find them so comfy!

(If you’re new to my dilemma, I bought it without being aware I couldn’t safely use a step down transformer to convert the voltage. I mean, I could have bought one but they cost a bomb and the manufacturer warns against it. I don’t want to burn down my mother in law’s house mid-orgasm.)
