have you ever felt the need to deprive yourself of food because you wanted to look good for a big event coming up?

No, I haven’t. It’s only in recent years I’ve realised that I’m kind of unusual for never feeling like I needed to do this. I will admit that at high school I went through a really awful few months when I restricted food a LOT because I was going through a really awful depressive episode, I’d been rejected by someone I liked a lot and I was pretty sick with glandular fever (but I wasn’t aware - it lead to my type 1 diabetes diagnosis).

Whenever my sisters say they are not eating because they want to look “better” I trot out my “GURRLLL YOU LOOK AWESOME” talk. I doubt they listen to me, but I can’t shut up. You don’t need to restrict and deprive to look better. Wear something you feel good in and prepare yourself for a good night, and you will look pretty ace.

I ought to add a few health implications of crash dieting: gallstones, increased weight, mental health issues, malnutrition, liver/ kidney/ heart failure, stroke, and osteoporosis. Booooo. :(
