1. Interrupting a young girl winning an award and basically trying to embarrass her on international tv and in front of all her peers in the industry.
2. Claimed that George Bush doesn’t like black people… A bit unfair and stupid.
3. The above points are enough to merit that he’s a massive cunt.
But also, he just generally puts himself across as an arrogant prick.
(Oh, and calling him a cunt isn’t some attempt at appearing edgy/shocking, maybe you’ve not been around the word much, but it’s a pretty common word, not particularly taboo anymore)
1. In 2009 Taylor Swift was twenty, she wasn’t a young girl. She was a grown woman. His intent clearly wasn’t to embarrass her. It had nothing to do with her. It was because he felt that Beyonce (his friend) had been robbed (she had). Was it a ridiculous thing to do? Yeah it was. It wasn’t done out of spite, though.
2. Kanye West’s comments about George Bush were entirely justified in the context of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
This is what annoys me about people hating on Kanye West. He’s not a bad person. He doesn’t have any nasty views, he’s not malicious in any way. He does, however, have a very unusual way of expressing himself. He’s overly emotional when he talks about things he cares about, and he behaves compulsively, and yeah, he often makes a mess of things when all he’s trying to do is communicate his feelings. It’s so easy to dismiss someone as an annoying prick when the way they communicate is non-normative, isn’t it? Well done. Clever you, general public. If you could look past that for just a second, and stop taking the piss, you’d see he’s not actually a bad-hearted person in any way. Just severely misguided, and too often in the public gaze.
