This is my friend’s puppy, a one-year-old Jack Russell Terrier named Iggy (after Iggy Pop). I awoke to him jumping on my head. He then drank out of a cup of water I had sitting next to my bed for my fragile, hungover head. Normally I tend to want to stab anybody or anything that wakes me up but I forgave young Iggy purely because he’s SO DAMN CUTE. I contemplated kidnapping him and taking him back to Brisbane before I realised my friend would probably murder me.
I was hanging out my washing the other night and heard a squeaky “meow” from nearby. I looked over the back fence to see a round black and white kitten lying in the grass, staring at me with big yellow eyes. I flailed my arms around and squealed “kittens! KITTENS!” to my housemate repeatedly in pure excitement.
It’s getting to a point where whenever I see dogs and cats, I am overwhelmed by this feeling of sunshine, rainbows and love, and the mad desire to have a pet all of my own - a bundle of fur, big eyes and little whimpering noises that will leap upon me whenever I enter the house because it loves ME.
Is this what some women feel like when they see babies?
This is what I’m like around animals! It used to be just dogs but now after meeting Heather’s cat I am totally open to cats too!
I just wanna have animals I can love and talk to, not humans.
