PAWS for Diabetics Inc:

PAWS for Diabetics was recommended highly by Canine Helpers for hypo alert training, and when we can afford to apply for a dog we will probably go through PFD. The application alone costs a non refundable $35 and once someone is eligible for a placement the fee is $1000! There’s also a chance that training may not stick, hypo alert training in dogs isn’t a science and while some dogs can bond with their handler and pick up their scent when they have a hypo, many dogs can’t.

My family and Nick are really concerned about my increasing hypos lately, and even though I feel guilty about the cost I can see how much a hypo alert dog would help me and Nick, who worries about me having a low blood sugar when he’s not with me.

At any rate, check out the link and the profiles of accredited dogs. There’s some stories there that make me want to cry.
