SO MUCH WORD TO THIS. (chelleshock, in a longer post with many interesting bits and pieces!). But, yes. I like my blog! I think it is pretty decent, if I am being totally frank. And I have blogged about all kinds of stuff. Queerness, lists, blood, disability things, fucking folk music…
I scoff at your compartmentalization! Well, not really, because some of the best blogs I read are quite narrowly focused. But it sure as heck isn’t for me.

Yes! That was sparked by a comment in a post on ProBlogger about how you needed to “know your niche” and etc. etc. Like, I guess if your ONLY motive is making money, I can kind of see that for SEO purposes. But I like being able to write about a daily outfit one day and paganism in modern media the next and generally whatever I want! This whole “boil yourself down to one thing and never write about anything else” is…weird, to me. I do not like it.

It REALLY bugs me that it’s such common “knowledge”/”wisdom” when it comes to blogging. When I started wanting to write about other things I stressed out SO MUCH about posting it on Wicked Whimsy, and now I just post most of the longer stuff there and shorter bits here (with some exceptions, I have a religious bingo card post that will probably go here rather than there but I don’t even know if I’ll post it). It’s just so much easier than trying to do several blogs…this is why Natalie’s blog is now among my favorites whereas blogs that are all one thing all the time are getting deleted from my reader!

Oh man I also want to add that I think my lack of niche works against me sometimes too. Like, because I don’t blog strictly about plus size fashion/ fatshion, I get left off a lot of blog rolls, which kind of hurts, but I totally get that it’s hard to put my blog into a category.
