I am 30 and I should be able to voice my identity but things hold me back. Mostly family. If I come out and say that I have a queer identity I just don’t know how to explain it properly, because they don’t have the experiences that I have had. Or the language too.
It was so hard to tell them about my fat identity. Like, these people who fostered me and saw me grow up… you’d figure it’d be easy but it’s not. And there are more parts to me too. I worry they will think I’ve been hiding or lying, but I haven’t. I’ve been right here performing in front of them.
Why is this so difficult?
