How do you stay positive about yourself in the face of acknowledging that there are other, more beautiful women out there? One of my good female friends constantly gets male attention, while I get little to none, and it's starting to really bother me. I'm getting "ugly friend" syndrome and I don't know what to do.

I hear you. I’ve felt that, and you know what? I still feel it. I try to remove the competition I feel between me and other people though, and I definitely try not to resent people with more beauty privilege than me.

So yeah, beauty privilege does exist and some of us have more of it than others. It’s got lots to do with race and class and size too. The positive thing is that we’re all attracted to different people. I like men who are chubby and look like they’ve been camping in the wilds for 5 years! I’m pretty sure that my niche preferences mean that I favour people that others would never consider as partners.

So at the end of the day, you are beautiful and you will be found beautiful. Not by everyone, that’s unrealistic, but by a niche market.
