Female Merit Badges by Mary Yaeger
My housemate has the shaving one and the tampon (not pictured). For realsies.i’ve seen this a bunch on my dash but i had to wait until i found credit to post it. i had to know the stories behind these:
My female merit badges illustrate female “rites of passage” as well as the myriad physical manipulations women undergo to achieve cultural ideals of beauty, such as weight watching, whether or not to shave or wear makeup, etc. I’ve created tiny replicas of female products, such as a birth control pill pack and a pregnancy test. The miniature scale and meticulous, hand-embroidered surfaces convey my impressions of growing up female in our culture.
i found where you can buy the motherhood themed ones, but not the others. i would love the hairy pits one!
Oh my goodness, I love! I have wanted to do fat related badges like this for ages, now I must figure it out for certain!
