When I am under too much pressure I go off-task. That’s why I’m adjusting the dress pattern right now. This is the cut and split method of enlarging a pattern.
I think one day I’d like to do a class in pattern drafting, but I would prefer to be mentored by an actual pattern drafter or seamstress. The incredible woman who helped me make my wedding dress was very skilled at drafting, particularly for petite and plus sized people, and she offered to mentor me but decided to take a break from working for a while because she was so stressed out. She got a lot of business because ready to wear fashion ignores petite and plus sized people.
I learnt to draft patterns because every pattern company seems to be stuck in the 80s. I’d recommend finding an education Queensland issued pattern making book (or any school sewing book, because they are nice and basic. mine is from 1969. It cost 20 cents).
I worked it out without any assistance, and you’re a smart lady.
Ah fabulous, do you still have the book and if it’s not too difficult could you let me know the ISBN number?
