I am a graphic design student, and I am greatly inspired by yourself as well as your work. I will need to be getting together a portfolio to bring to future job/internship opportunities, and I was wondering what your portfolio set up looks like that you show to clients. Or just in general any tips or suggestions to setting up a portfolio.

Thanks very much, I’m always really flattered when design students like my work.

Unfortunately I’m a really dodgy design role model - I don’t have a traditional portfolio and never have. Every year I figure out a new way to bind selected pieces, but I haven’t done anything this year because I’ve been so busy with my illustrative pieces. Last year I made a simple folder out of thick card with bookbinding techniques, and left my pieces loose within.

I really can’t guarantee this approach will get you jobs - I’m not a traditional designer and I don’t seek traditional work, eep!

It’s also really important to have an online portfolio. Most of my work comes from overseas because the Australian market is too safe. It’s just not my market!
