If I could somehow guarantee that my pregnancy, childbirth, and motherhood could be this orgasmic I might be more open to the idea of being a mother. (I have hardly any pain tolerance and am already hormonally fraught as it is!) Right now I’m just waiting for incubators to exist. “Ooh, look, a leg!“
I’m on that list too. I fear pregnancy and labour, the idea that my body could grow another person really scares me. It’s a foreign idea. I have a high pain tolerance but I just don’t feel many of the things that other people who want and have children feel. Aside from the pregnancy and birthing issue, I have never really been clucky even as a child care worker and nanny. I don’t feel like I’m nurturing or motherly and my approach to child care was always entirely pragmatic yet kids seemed to love me. Mum thinks that’s why they loved me!
I’ve always thought there might be something wrong with me because I don’t want kids. Sometimes I can be very insensitive towards parenting and it’s definitely something I try to address within myself. This video was really interesting to me; I am all for people having birthing options that they’re comfortable with and it’s a shame that the hospital system is so rigid.
