http://www.bobinoz.com/blog/3398/ambulance-fees-in-australia-state-to-state/ some googling got me this list of ambulance costs. just fyi. when i first moved to victoria i didnt know there was a starting cost of $700 or so otherwise i would have gotten ambo cover straight away ($60 pa roughly). a bad incident that resulted in some people putting me in an ambulance without asking me if i had cover (they assumed everyone did) got me an $800 bill in the mail for travel to a public hospital. sadness. you dont need to post this, just some information. it may be out of date, also i'm not gonna endorse anything else on that blog it looks maybe a bit.. i dont know.

I just need to edit this to reiterate my complete lack of awareness of ambulance costs. I’m shocked at how much it could cost people. In Queensland we pay a levy with our electricity (around $100 a year apparently but I’ve never checked.) In other places if someone calls an ambo for you and you know how to manage your condition without paramedics, you could pay through the arse. Argh. My previous advice really does depend on what kind of situation you have with health care and ambulances where you live.
