yes. this. why glee? Why?!

Anita Sarkesian of Feminist Frequency has a good review of the Glee season 2 premiere here: Top 5 Problems with Glee: Race, Gender and Sexuality in the Season 2 Premiere

Great article and secret.

True.  I watched the first episode last night and to paraphrase Mercedes, the Glee creators “just did like 10 offensive things”

Everytime I tweet about Glee and the problems contained within I get a bunch of upset people defending it. It’s OK to watch a tv show and challenge the problems in it, Maude knows I can’t stop myself from watching it. I don’t even like it save for Sue and now Coach Shannon, yet I continue to tune in. The songs and production are frankly awful and none of the issues raised are particularly nuanced. Some people say “at least it’s a jumping off point, it’s why we are having this debate!” but if the writing was properly challenging stereotypes of gender, race, age, ability and size it’d have the fucking conversation WITHIN the show, right?
