The myth is that she was a size 12 but dress sizes have evolved over the years.  A size 12 fifty years ago would be similar to a size 6 or an 8 today.  However, that doesn’t detract from the fact that in the beginning of her career, she was considered a bit bigger by Hollywood’s standards but that quickly changed as the public grew to adore her.  Shortly thereafter, Marilyn’s size was considered the epitome of beauty. 

It’s impossible to conform to beauty standards because they change so rapidly.  Just ignore the garbage and be you.
